LITANY 8 - For the will of God

Lord Jesus, Son of God, hear us.
Lord Jesus, Savior, our Savior, graciously hear us.
God the Father, Who has created us,
Hallowed be Thy will.
God the Son, Who has redeemed us,
Not my will but Yours be done.
God the Holy Spirit, Who has called us by the Gospel and enlightened with Your gifts,
Make the most holy the will of God to us.
You alone O Lord, know and foresee all things,
Have mercy on us and keep us in Your perfect will.
You alone O Lord, govern and rule all things,
Have mercy on us and lead us in Your holy will.
You alone O Lord, effect all things in a wonderful manner according to Your unsearchable designs,
Have mercy on us and effect Your holy will for us.
You alone O Lord, allow evil only in order to derive the eternal salvation of those who believe now and will yet come to believe,
Have mercy on us and save us by Your holy will.
In all things and in all possible events,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In all situations and circumstances,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In all graces and disgraces,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In our state and employment,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In our my affairs and occupations,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In all our attitudes and actions,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In our health and strength,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In our bodies and souls,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In our life and death,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In ourselves and in all those who belong to us,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In all people and angels,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In all creatures,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In all parts of the earth,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
At all times,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
For all eternity,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
That we hate sin,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
Though our sinful shall complain,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
Though it may require the loss of self and satisfaction,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
That we give up all reliance upon ourselves to overcome our sin,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
That we daily entrust ourselves unconditionally to the Blessed Savior,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
That we abide with patience and confidence in the midst of things to great for us,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
Because You alone are our Blessed Creator,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
Because You alone are the Supreme Lord of all things,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
Because You alone are infinite perfection, we say, with all the saints in Heaven,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
With Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, we say
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
Grant us Your grace, O Father, that faithful submission to Your Holy Will may be with us, work in us, and continue with us to the end.
Grant us always to desire and will that which is most acceptable to You and which pleases You best.
Let Your will be ours, and let our will always follow Yours and agree perfectly with it.
Let me always will and not will the same with You; let us not be able to will or not will anything except what You will to be or will not to be.
According to the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen. Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

Litany 7 - A Litany for the Night

O Lord:
Have mercy upon us.
O Christ:
Have mercy upon us.
O Lord:
Have mercy upon us.

For all who in any place who stand this night in need of Your merciful provision and protection:
Have mercy good Lord and meet their need.

On those struggling and oppressed by temptation;
On those who have succumb to temptation;
On those who are in dwell in deadly sin;
On those who have given themselves up to their sinfulness and that of the world and have forgotten You;
On those who have never known You;
And on all those who in this night are in danger of losing You for ever:
Have mercy good Lord, lead them not into temptation and save them.

On those who employed in evil industries and profit by sin;
On the victims of their wicked and immoral commerce;
On all those who indulge themselves in any sinful amusement;
On those who busy themselves in places of places of iniquity;
And on those who endanger their souls by sinful luxury and self-indulgence:
Have mercy good Lord, deliver them from evil and save them.

On all who are out this night, the abandoned, the forgotten, the homeless, the vagabond, the weary, the starving, the suicidal, the bitter, and the neglected:
Have mercy good Lord, protect, provide, defend, and deliver them all.

For each policeman, fireman, and watchman;
For all those who maintain the means of travel and communication;
For every editor and journalist;
For every student and scientist;
For all soldiers, sailors, and aviators;
For each laborer in every industry;
For every father and mother;
And for all who work or watch this night:
Have mercy good Lord, look out for them and bless them.

To heal the sick and suffering;
To sustain and deliver all those who must undergo operations;
To comfort and strengthen those who endure agony of body, mind or soul;
To companion the sleepless and the lonely;
To console and calm those in anxiety;
To visit and sustain each of those this night who must suffer bereavement;
And to deepen the repentance and faith of all those for whom this will be their last night upon earth:
We humble ask You to be merciful good Lord.
Be their Great Physician and be merciful to them all.

To give faithfulness and sympathy to each nurse and all that serve the injured, sickly, and suffering;
To endow all doctors called out this night with wisdom and skill to meet the needs of those they serve;
And to bless each minister of Your Word who shall comfort the distressed and attend the dying in this night:
We humble ask You to be merciful good Lord.
Let Your hand be their hand and Your voice their voice, that the welfare of Your people may be preserved.

On those who live through this night alone without a minister of Your Word or the Sacraments of Your Church,
On all those who die in impenitence and unbelief,
On those who die unconscious and unaware,
On those who die suddenly and without time for preparation,
And on those who are afraid to die:
Have mercy good Lord, attend them with Your Spirit and deliver them according to Your mercies.

For each of those tonight, who depart this life in the holy Christian faith and reverent fear:
Have mercy good Lord and receive them unto Yourself.

To all of us in our last hour, whenever it may come to us:
Have mercy good Lord and grant penitence, pardon, and peace.

By Your holy death in darkness:
Deliver us all from the darkness of death, O Christ.

O Lord:
Have mercy upon us.
O Christ:
Have mercy upon us.
O Lord:
Have mercy upon us.  Amen.

Litany 6 - By Christ's coming and becoming

O Lord, have mercy and be gracious to me.
O Christ, have mercy and hear my prayer.
O Lord, have mercy and be gracious to me.

By Your coming down to those who could never lift themselves up to You,
O Lord have mercy that I may be borne up in Your everlasting arms.
By Your becoming like unto those who could never become like unto You,
O Lord have mercy that I may be made like unto You.
By Your becoming such as I am in sin under the wrath of God,
O Lord have mercy that coming to You as I am, I may be forgiven and become the righteousness of God in You.
By Your being reared for the sake of those who could not of their own efforts be reared worthy of heaven,
O Lord have mercy that I may be reared in You and raised unto heaven.

O Lord, have mercy and be gracious to me.
O Christ, have mercy and hear my prayer.
O Lord, have mercy and be gracious to me.
Amen.

Blessed Savior, holy Christ,
Have mercy and hear my prayer.

By Thy faithfulness to God and to all about You in Your life –
Lord have mercy upon me and be my faithfulness to God and all about me and my faith.
By Thy faithful worship of God according to His Word –

By Thy holy name –
Lord have mercy upon me and be the Father’s hearing of my prayer and His answer to me. Amen.

Litany 4 - Based upon the prayer of Saint John Chrysostom

O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and deprive me not of Your heavenly blessings;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and deliver me from eternal torment;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and where I have sinned in my mind or thought, in word deed, forgive me.
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and deliver me from every ignorance and heedlessness, from pettiness of the soul and stony hardness of heart;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and deliver me from every temptation;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and enlighten my heart darkened by evil desires;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and I, being a human being, have sinned; do You, being God, forgive me in Your loving kindness, for You know the weakness of my soul.
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and send down Your grace to help me, that I may glorify Your holy Name;
O Lord Jesus Christ,
Have mercy and inscribe me, Your servant, in the Book of Life, and grant me a blessed end;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and even if I have done nothing good in Your sight, yet grant me, according to Your grace, that Have mercy and I may make a start in doing good.
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and sprinkle on my heart the dew of Your grace;
O Lord of heaven and earth,
Have mercy and remember me, Your sinful servant, cold of heart and impure, in Your Kingdom.
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and receive me in repentance;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and leave me not;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and save me from temptation;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and grant me pure thoughts;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and grant me tears of repentance, remembrance of death, and the sense of peace;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and grant me mindfulness to confess my sins;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and grant me humility, charity, and obedience;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and grant me tolerance, magnanimity, and gentleness;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and implant in me the root of all blessings: the fear of You in my heart;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and so keep me that I may love You with all my heart and soul, and that I may obey in all things Your will;
O Lord, my God and my Life,
Have mercy and shield me from evil persons and devils and passions and all other lawless matters;
O Lord, my God and my Life, Who knows Your creation and that which You have willed for it;
Have mercy so that Your will also be fulfilled in me, a sinner, for You are blessed forevermore. Amen.
