LITANY OF RESIGNATION TO THE WILL OF GOD

Lord, have mercy on us,
Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us.

Lord Jesus, Son of God, hear us.
Lord Jesus, Savior, our Savior, graciously hear us.

God the Father, Who has created us,
Hallowed be Thy will.

God the Son, Who has redeemed us,
Not my will but Yours be done.

God the Holy Spirit, Who has called us by the Gospel and enlightened with Your gifts,
Make the holy will of God, holy to us.

You alone O Lord, are all-knowing of what has been, what is now and what will yet be,
Have mercy on us and keep our past, our present and our future in Your perfect will.

You alone O Lord, govern and guide all things,
Have mercy on us and guide us by the governance of Your holy will.

You alone O Lord, allow evil only in order to serve and strength the salvation of those who believe and those yet to believe,
Have mercy on us and save us all by Your holy will.

In all things and through all things,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

In all situations and circumstances,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

In all graces and disgraces,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

In our occupations and employment,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

In our my affairs and affections,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

In all our attitudes and actions,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

In our health and strength,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

In our bodies and souls,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In our life, living and death,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

In ourselves and in all those You have given us,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

In all creatures and all of creation,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

At all times and in every hour
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

For now and for all eternity,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

Though our sinful nature shall complain,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

Though our sinful nature shall rebel,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

Though our sinful nature shall tempt us,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

Though the world shall by its pains and pleasures entice us,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

Though it may require the loss of ourselves and earthly satisfaction,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

Solely and only through Your love for us,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

Because You alone are our Blessed Creator,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

Because You alone are the Blessed Redeemer,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

Because You alone are the Blessed Sanctifier,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

Because You alone are God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
We ask You, we pray You, we implore You,
That Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

In Christ, we pray as He did in the Garden of Gethsemane,
Nevertheless, Your will be done! O Lord our God.

Lord, have mercy upon us and give more grace,
That we may resign all things to Your Holy Will for us, to Your holy will in us, and Your holy will through us, even unto the end.

Lord, have mercy upon us and give more grace,
That we may ever desire and seek that which is most abides in Your revealed will and thus pleases You best.

Lord, have mercy upon us and give more grace,

That this prayer, these petitions may be acceptable in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

They Whom God has filled, cannot any longer be empty!

Blessed Father, as the baptized we do not come as those who are empty;
for You have filled us with the fullness of Christ our Lord and His salvation.
If there were not enough, Your new mercies never cease to fall upon us and for us.
You so surround us that we are hemmed in before and behind by Your keeping.
You have made us the heirs of all things in Jesus Christ.
As You never speak to us except from Your sacred Word;
Speak Your word to us that we may have ears to hear and hearts to believe.
As You do not touch us except in the Sacrament of Your body and blood;
Touch us in this communion so all that we are shall be fully shared with You
and all that You are shall be so fully shared with us as to overcome what we are.
You do not show Yourself to us except behind the masks of many through which provide for us in body and soul.
Show Yourself to us in these blessed masks that we may taste and see that the Lord is good and righty give thanks unto the Lord our God.
Grant us the blessed keeping of Your Holy Spirit,
for the wickedness and evil that overcomes many is about us on all sides.
Grant us the wisdom of Your Holy Spirit,
for we have no way by which to discern the weakness and waywardness of sinful man.
Grant us the unyielding power of Your Holy Spirit,
for we have no strength and are easily cast down, hard pressed in our infirmity.
As we are so often overcome and caught by our own sinfulness, grant that none who have been baptized may ever question their worth and usefulness in the Kingdom of God, for the blood of Christ has washed them, the seal of the Holy Spirit has been pressed upon them, and the love of God that Father abides with us all.
Lord have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Lord have mercy.  Amen.

Litany 13 - A Litany of the Cross

Jesus, Son of God and Redeemer of the world:
Have mercy on us, who not worthy of redemption.
Jesus, sold by Judas for thirty pieces of silver:
Have mercy on us, who have sold you and ourselves for less.
Jesus, betrayed by a friend with a kiss:
Have mercy on us, betrayers of friends and you.
Jesus, bound by the soldiers and forsaken by the disciples:
Have mercy on us, bound by our weakness and sin.
Jesus, accused by false witnesses:
Have mercy on us, accused rightly of our sin and guilt.
Jesus, found guilty and sentenced to death:
Have mercy on us, truly guilty and sentenced to death.
Jesus, spat upon, blindfolded and struck on the face:
 Have mercy on us, who spit upon you and others, who blindfold you and others to our sin, who strike you and others.
Jesus, denied three times by Peter:
Have mercy on us, deniers of You three times three thousand times.
Jesus, rejected in favor of Barrabbas:
Have mercy on us, being most worthy of rejection
Jesus, whipped and bruised for our sins:
Have mercy on us, handlers of whips and makers of bruises for the sins of others.
Jesus, covered with a scarlet robe and crowned with thorns:
Have mercy on us, makers the robe of scarlet by our sins and casters of the crown of thorns in selfishness.
Jesus, demanded for crucifixion by Your own people:
Have mercy on us, the very people who wanted and demanded Your crucifixion.
Jesus, burdened with the heavy weight of the cross:
Have mercy on us, loaders of the cross with its weight and you with the cross.
Jesus, stripped of Your garments and nailed to the cross:
Have mercy on us, who stripped you as we have stripped ourselves of innocence and purity, who have nailed you to the cross as we have nailed our unholy desires on the walls of hearts.
Jesus, declaring Yourself forsaken by the cross:
Have mercy on us, forsakers of You through the cross we gave You.
Jesus, crying out in agony that it is finished:
Have mercy on us, who sought and finished you.
Jesus, pierced with spear and taken down from the cross:
Have mercy on us, who have pierced you and taken you down from the place of honor, the place of preference, the place of God.
Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world:
Have mercy on us or we shall be taken away with the sins of the world.
Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world:
Have mercy on us, for we are taken away with the sins of our own lives.
Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world:
Grant us Your peace. Amen

LITANY 12 - Litany of the Truth of God

O Lord, Your Word is Truth,
have mercy.
O Christ, You who are the Word made flesh and thus the Truth,
have mercy.
O Lord, Your Word is Truth,
have mercy.

From all lies and falsity;
from all deceit and deception;
from all half-truths and distorted truth;
from all that would shade, shadow and obscure the Truth;
and from all those who peddle and push such untruth,
Deliver us, O Lord.
Blessed be the Way and the Truth and the Life.

By Your faithfulness to those who were unfaithful in their calling to speak and deal only in the Truth;
By Your seeking those who sought false testimony against You,
By Your witness to those who were false witnesses against You;
By Your true confession for those who sought false confessions against You;
By Your hearing the blasphemy of the blasphemer;
By Your silently bearing the injustice of those who could not bear with You,
And by Your receiving the condemnation of the condemned;
Help us, Good Lord.
Blessed be The Way and the Truth and the Life.

In all times of our lying and our deceit;
In all times of our suffering the lying and deceit of others;
In all times of our want for what is untrue and false;
In all times of our suffering for the Truth;
In all times of our fear of the Truth;
And in our constant and desperate need for the Truth;
Help us, Good Lord.
Blessed be The Way and the Truth and the Life.

For the work of the Holy Spirit to call and enlighten us by the Truth;
For the faithful use of the Holy Scriptures - the Truth;
For the blessings of the Truth upon Your Church;
For the faithful governance of Your Church according to the Truth;
For the end of all divisions by full subscription to the Truth;
And for deliverance from the schemes of the evil one by the Truth,
We implore You to hear us, Good Lord.
Blessed be The Way and the Truth and the Life.

For all those who have been denied the Truth;
For all those who have been made to suffer for lack of the Truth or its perversion;
And for all those who hunger and thirst for the Truth;
Have mercy, Good Lord.
Blessed be The Way and the Truth and the Life.

To give us and all people ears to hear and hearts to believe in He who is the Truth;
To save us and all people by the Truth;
To sanctify us and all people by the Truth
To defend and strengthen us and all people by the Truth;
To keep us faithful messengers of the Truth to Your Church and all people;
And to lead us all into the way of the Truth;
We implore You hear us, Good Lord.
Blessed be The Way and the Truth and the Life.

Lamb of God, Living Truth that takes away the sin of the world;
Have mercy.
Lamb of God, Living Truth that takes away the sin of the world;
Have mercy.
Lamb of God, Living Truth that takes away the sin of the world;
Grant us Your peace.

O Lord, Your Word is Truth,
have mercy.
O Christ, You who are the Word and thus the Truth,
have mercy.
O Lord, Your Word is Truth,
have mercy. Amen.

LITANY 10 - IN TIMES OF TEMPTATION.

O Lord, have mercy upon us.
O Christ, have mercy upon us.
O Lord, have mercy upon us.

Lord God, Limiter of temptations beyond our abilities,
Lord God, Provider of a way out of temptations,
For the sake of Jesus Christ, hear our prayer.

From all thoughts and thinking that would lead to temptation;
From all desires that lead into temptation;
From all wants that give rise to any temptation;
From all temptation to please and pleasure our sinful nature;
From our weakness of flesh before all temptation;
From all bondage that sin and its temptation have on us; and
From all justifications to give into any temptation,
Lord have mercy, deliver, defend and protect us.

From all images that would tempt us;
From all words that would tempt us;
From all places where we would be most tempted, and
From all persons would tempt us,
Lord have mercy, deliver, defend and protect us.

Blessed Lord Jesus Christ,
Sympathetic Savior and Champion over all temptation,
For the sake of Your victory over all temptation, hear our prayer.

By Your suffering temptation from Satan;
By Your suffering temptation from those You love;
By Your suffering temptation in all the walks and ways of Your life;
By Your suffering temptation in the hour of death; and
By Your suffering temptation in every way we are tempted,
Lord have mercy upon us in all times of temptation.

By Your victory over every temptation with which we are tempted;
By Your faithfulness to God and to us over every temptation;
By Your suffering and death for all our succumbing to temptation; and
By Your sympathizing with us in all temptation,
Lord have mercy upon us and gracious to us.

Gracious God our heavenly Father,
Sender of Your Son into all temptations with which we are tempted,
Have mercy upon us and hear our prayer.

In all forms of our temptation;
In all conditions of our temptation;
In all degrees of our temptation;
In all times of our doubts that give rise to temptation;
In all times of our fear in the face of temptation;
In all times of our want to give into temptation;
In all times of our apathy in the face of temptation;
In all times of our frustration because of constant temptation;
In all times of our selfishness that leads us into temptation; and
In all times of our trouble because we have given into temptation,
Have mercy upon us, grant us Your aid and lead us not into temptation.

Gracious God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
Knower of all our temptations and Limiter of them,
Have mercy upon us and hear our prayer.

For ears to hear Your Word in the face of all temptation;
For a heart to believe Your Word in face of all temptation;
For the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit to move us into Your will in every temptation,
For the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to what is godly in all our thoughts, words, desires and deeds;
For the Holy Spirit’s intercession in all our feeble prayers in the face of every temptation;
For the Holy Spirit to renew our strength that we may not grow weary in the face of constant temptation;
For the Holy Spirit to enlighten us that the victory over every temptation is found in Jesus Christ alone;
And that we may be forgiven for all our times of entertaining temptations and our surrendering to them into sin,
We implore You to have mercy and help us.

O God the Father, Blessed Creator,
Have mercy upon us and hear our prayer.
O God the Son, Jesus Christ, Blessed Redeemer,
Have mercy upon us and hear our prayer.
O God the Holy Spirit, blessed Sanctifier,
Have mercy upon us and hear our prayer.
Amen.

For the constancy and gladness of Your gift of life in all creation; and
For Your ordering all things for the protection of life here and in eternity:
Blessed be Your holy name, O Lord our God.

For Your creation of man in Your own image that You might reign within his heart; and
For Your creation of man in Your own image that You might manifest Your works of love through Him:
Blessed be Your holy name, O Lord our God.

For Your kingdom pushing back the darkness of death by sending the Light of the Life;
For Your kingdom pushing back the deceptions of sin by sending the Living Truth; and
For Your kingdom pushing back all the works and ways of Satan and our sin by sending the Way of our Salvation:
Blessed be Your holy name, O Lord our God.

For the holy epiphany of Yourself and Your kingdom through the incarnation of Your Son for us;
For the epiphany of Yourself and Your kingdom through the living, suffering, death and burial of Your Son for us; and
For the epiphany of Yourself and Your kingdom through resurrection of Your Son from the dead for us:
Blessed be Your holy name, O Lord our God.

For the work of Your kingdom manifested in the faith and faithfulness of Your saints;
For the work of Your kingdom manifested in the words and works of Your saints; and
For the work of Your kingdom put to pen and press by Your saints:
Blessed be Your holy name, O Lord our God.

That Your Kingdom is like unto Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hb 13:8):
Blessed be Your holy name, O Lord our God. Amen.

LITANY 8 - For the will of God

Lord Jesus, Son of God, hear us.
Lord Jesus, Savior, our Savior, graciously hear us.
God the Father, Who has created us,
Hallowed be Thy will.
God the Son, Who has redeemed us,
Not my will but Yours be done.
God the Holy Spirit, Who has called us by the Gospel and enlightened with Your gifts,
Make the most holy the will of God to us.
You alone O Lord, know and foresee all things,
Have mercy on us and keep us in Your perfect will.
You alone O Lord, govern and rule all things,
Have mercy on us and lead us in Your holy will.
You alone O Lord, effect all things in a wonderful manner according to Your unsearchable designs,
Have mercy on us and effect Your holy will for us.
You alone O Lord, allow evil only in order to derive the eternal salvation of those who believe now and will yet come to believe,
Have mercy on us and save us by Your holy will.
In all things and in all possible events,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In all situations and circumstances,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In all graces and disgraces,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In our state and employment,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In our my affairs and occupations,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In all our attitudes and actions,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In our health and strength,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In our bodies and souls,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In our life and death,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In ourselves and in all those who belong to us,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In all people and angels,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In all creatures,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
In all parts of the earth,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
At all times,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
For all eternity,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
That we hate sin,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
Though our sinful shall complain,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
Though it may require the loss of self and satisfaction,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
That we give up all reliance upon ourselves to overcome our sin,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
That we daily entrust ourselves unconditionally to the Blessed Savior,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
That we abide with patience and confidence in the midst of things to great for us,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
Because You alone are our Blessed Creator,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
Because You alone are the Supreme Lord of all things,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
Because You alone are infinite perfection, we say, with all the saints in Heaven,
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
With Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, we say
Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.
Grant us Your grace, O Father, that faithful submission to Your Holy Will may be with us, work in us, and continue with us to the end.
Grant us always to desire and will that which is most acceptable to You and which pleases You best.
Let Your will be ours, and let our will always follow Yours and agree perfectly with it.
Let me always will and not will the same with You; let us not be able to will or not will anything except what You will to be or will not to be.
According to the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen. Your holy will be done, O Lord our God.

Litany 7 - A Litany for the Night

O Lord:
Have mercy upon us.
O Christ:
Have mercy upon us.
O Lord:
Have mercy upon us.

For all who in any place who stand this night in need of Your merciful provision and protection:
Have mercy good Lord and meet their need.

On those struggling and oppressed by temptation;
On those who have succumb to temptation;
On those who are in dwell in deadly sin;
On those who have given themselves up to their sinfulness and that of the world and have forgotten You;
On those who have never known You;
And on all those who in this night are in danger of losing You for ever:
Have mercy good Lord, lead them not into temptation and save them.

On those who employed in evil industries and profit by sin;
On the victims of their wicked and immoral commerce;
On all those who indulge themselves in any sinful amusement;
On those who busy themselves in places of places of iniquity;
And on those who endanger their souls by sinful luxury and self-indulgence:
Have mercy good Lord, deliver them from evil and save them.

On all who are out this night, the abandoned, the forgotten, the homeless, the vagabond, the weary, the starving, the suicidal, the bitter, and the neglected:
Have mercy good Lord, protect, provide, defend, and deliver them all.

For each policeman, fireman, and watchman;
For all those who maintain the means of travel and communication;
For every editor and journalist;
For every student and scientist;
For all soldiers, sailors, and aviators;
For each laborer in every industry;
For every father and mother;
And for all who work or watch this night:
Have mercy good Lord, look out for them and bless them.

To heal the sick and suffering;
To sustain and deliver all those who must undergo operations;
To comfort and strengthen those who endure agony of body, mind or soul;
To companion the sleepless and the lonely;
To console and calm those in anxiety;
To visit and sustain each of those this night who must suffer bereavement;
And to deepen the repentance and faith of all those for whom this will be their last night upon earth:
We humble ask You to be merciful good Lord.
Be their Great Physician and be merciful to them all.

To give faithfulness and sympathy to each nurse and all that serve the injured, sickly, and suffering;
To endow all doctors called out this night with wisdom and skill to meet the needs of those they serve;
And to bless each minister of Your Word who shall comfort the distressed and attend the dying in this night:
We humble ask You to be merciful good Lord.
Let Your hand be their hand and Your voice their voice, that the welfare of Your people may be preserved.

On those who live through this night alone without a minister of Your Word or the Sacraments of Your Church,
On all those who die in impenitence and unbelief,
On those who die unconscious and unaware,
On those who die suddenly and without time for preparation,
And on those who are afraid to die:
Have mercy good Lord, attend them with Your Spirit and deliver them according to Your mercies.

For each of those tonight, who depart this life in the holy Christian faith and reverent fear:
Have mercy good Lord and receive them unto Yourself.

To all of us in our last hour, whenever it may come to us:
Have mercy good Lord and grant penitence, pardon, and peace.

By Your holy death in darkness:
Deliver us all from the darkness of death, O Christ.

O Lord:
Have mercy upon us.
O Christ:
Have mercy upon us.
O Lord:
Have mercy upon us.  Amen.
